It was a gorgeous day to be sure. Sometimes the breeze from the water can be so cold, especially when you’re sitting still, painting. Today was not like that!

Waiting for Friends

It was a gorgeous, chilly day in late December at Willows Beach when I painted this. After awhile, two women came and sat in the chairs, and they talked together. I had a

Cold Coots

It was chilly out as the Al Frescoes painted at Swan Lake and although I imagined that the coots swimming nearby could be cold I’m sure that it was I who was freezing! 14×16 Pastel on Pastelmat

Waiting for Lunch

When I sat down to paint this subdued landscape it seemed devoid of animal life. It was a very chilly day and even the birds seemed to be hiding. Until…I saw in the distance a pair of bald eagles. Clearly they had an excellent vantage point from which to hunt for lunch!

Froggy

I painted beside a relaxing pond towards the end of summer. This little frog sat still for the longest time. I like to think she was preparing for the long sleep ahead.
